When we thing at boating, we think at sun, drinks and a good time. At least that’s what I think of. Well, it turns out in Texas there is an offense for boating while intoxicated (BWI) and it’s define is operating a watercraft while intoxicated.
You are got to be surprised just how broad the definition of watercraft is. A watercraft it’s any vessel, one or more water skis, an aquaplane or another device used for transporting or carrying a person on water. The only thing is doesn’t include is a device propelled only by the current of water. For example an innertube on the river.
Now, anyone can be charged by boating while intoxicated. The standard for law enforcement to come on your boat is so low. They can’t come on just for a lifejacket check. And so it’s important if you’re charged of boating while intoxicated to call a boating while intoxicated lawyer, so we can help you!
