Hi, I am Jay Cohen from Blass Law and I wanna talk about why you should hire a lawyer quickly if you’ve been arrested or even accused of a crime.
Piece of mind. This is probably the most important. If you’ve never been through this before you may just wanna go to court and see how things are gonna go.
The police officers have arrested you and they’ve made it abundantly clear that when they make an arrest, they think someone’s guilty. Doesn’t matter if they may have violated their rights or even if it was an illegal arrest.
Prosecutors, they just listen to what the cops say. There are important deadlines that you have to be aware of.
If you’re arrested for DWI, a license hearing has to be requested or else your license is automatically suspended.
If you have a handgun license, it has to be sent to DPS within a certain time period. A lot of employers want you to notify them even if you’ve just been charged with a crime.
Evidence is the key. It’s our job to assume when an officer makes a police report it’s a page of lies. We have to perform
independent investigation and we do that by getting all of the data that police officers can’t manipulate, body cams, mobile data terminal logs, radio transmissions, 911 calls.
All of these things are very important so we can compare that to what the officer’s wrote.
Retention times are how long these police departments have to keep the information. That can be as short as 30 days. That means police departments can delete 911 calls, body cam, all these things that may help you.
That’s why it’s important that you don’t delay and call Blass Law so we can help.
