Hi, I’m Jay Cohen from Blass Law and I wanna talk about forfeitures as they relate to racing. We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of forfeitures filed for people accused of racing.
A forfeiture is when the government tries to take your property because it was involved in the commission of a felony. A felony is the requirement. Racing is a misdemeanor, but we see a lot of people that are involved in racing get charged with felonies like evading and organized crime.
If you’re involved in a race and the cops get behind you, stop immediately. If you don’t, you could be charged with evading. It’s not worth winning the race to lose your car. Remember, be smart out there.
